đď¸ How We Make the Magic at Kustomizables

A behind-the-scenes explanation of our methods, materials, and hands-on process
If youâve ever ordered something custom and wondered, âHow does this actually get made?â youâre not alone.
Custom products can feel a little mysterious, especially when so many shops rely on drop shipping or third-party fulfillment. Thatâs not how we work.
At Kustomizables, weâre a small-batch, hands-on shop. Every item is made, finished, and inspected by us before it ships. No warehouses. No direct-to-you third parties. No skipping steps.
Letâs break down the methods we use, what they mean, and how your order goes from idea to finished product.
𧾠Embroidery: Stitched with Care, Built to Last
Thread, texture, and timeless appeal
Embroidery is the process of stitching a design directly into fabric using thread. We use embroidery equipment designed for small businesses and makers, which allows us to focus on detail, placement, and consistency rather than mass production.
Embroidery is great for:
- Names and monograms
- Logos
- AppliquĂŠ designs
- Cozy, elevated apparel
Youâll see embroidery on:
- Sweatshirts and hoodies
- Childrenâs apparel with appliquĂŠ lettering
- Personalized clothing items
Some embroidery designs are created by us, while others are licensed designs sourced from trusted marketplaces like Creative Fabrica or Etsy. Regardless of where the design originates, the embroidery itself is always done in-house. We handle sizing, placement, thread selection, stitching, and final inspection for every piece.
đĽ Laser Cutting & Engraving: Clean Lines, Custom Details
Precision without mass production
Laser cutting and engraving use a focused laser to either cut shapes completely out of a material or engrave designs into its surface. This method allows for crisp edges and fine detail thatâs hard to achieve by hand.
When it comes to laser designs, we do one of two things:
- Create the design entirely in-house, or
- Use designs from a laser creative membership program, where independent creators share their laser-ready designs with fellow makers
In both cases, we intentionally select designs, adjust them for size and layout, and apply them ourselves.
We laser cut and engrave materials like:
- Acrylic
- Wood (MDF, birch, maple)
- Leather and faux leather
Youâll see this method on:
- Ornaments
- Door signs and name plaques
- Keychains and bag tags
- Cake toppers and dĂŠcor
Every laser-cut or engraved item is created in our shop. We handle material selection, layout, machine settings, finishing, and final inspection so each piece meets our standards before itâs packaged and shipped.
đ¨ DTF Printing: Bold Designs with Flexibility
DTF = Direct to Film
DTF printing involves printing a design onto a special film, then heat-pressing it onto fabric. This method works well on many fabric types and allows for vibrant color and fine detail.
DTF is best for:
- Full-color artwork
- Detailed or illustrated designs
- Cotton and blended fabrics
- Light and dark garments
Youâll see DTF used on:
- Graphic tees
- Statement shirts
- Apparel with multi-color designs
Many DTF designs are licensed designs sourced from marketplaces and then sized, positioned, pressed, and finished by us. The printing may be done in-house for smaller runs or handled by a trusted print partner for larger quantities. Either way, the printed transfers always come to us, where we apply them, inspect the result, and finish the garment before it ships.
đ Sublimation Printing: When Ink Becomes the Product
Smooth, permanent, and vibrant
Sublimation printing uses heat to turn ink into a gas that bonds directly with polyester fabric or specially coated items. The design becomes part of the product itself, meaning thereâs no texture and nothing to peel or crack.
Sublimation is used for:
- Tumblers and drinkware
- Mugs
- Mousepads
- Wristlets and accessories
Sublimation designs may be original, licensed, or a combination of both. What never changes is the process: we prepare the design, press the item, inspect it closely, and only ship pieces that meet our quality standards.
đ¨ď¸ Printing & Cutting for Stickers, Stationery & More
Small details, thoughtfully made
We also create printed paper and vinyl goods using small-batch printing and precision cutting equipment.
This includes:
- Sticker sheets
- Gift tags
- Cards and stationery
- Labels and printed add-ons
These items are designed, printed, cut, and packaged with the same attention to detail as our apparel and gifts.
đ¨ A Note About Our Designs
Transparency matters to us
Not every design starts from scratch, and we believe in being honest about that.
We use a mix of design sources, including:
- Original designs created in-house
- Licensed designs from marketplaces like Creative Fabrica and Etsy
- Designs shared through maker-focused creative memberships
- Designs that are adapted, resized, personalized, or adjusted for specific products
What makes the product custom isnât just the artwork. Itâs how that artwork is applied, finished, and cared for. Every design is thoughtfully selected, properly licensed, and executed by us with intention.
đŤ We Do NOT Drop Ship
Everything passes through our hands
This is one of the most important things to know about Kustomizables.
We do not send your order directly from a printer or warehouse to your home.
We do not skip inspection.
We do not outsource fulfillment.
Every item:
- Is physically made or finished by us
- Is inspected for quality, color, and placement
- Is packaged by us before shipping
Nothing you receive ever bypasses our shop.
đ¨ď¸ The Only Time We Outsource (And How That Works)
There are two specific situations where part of the process may involve outside help. Even then, your product always comes back to us before it reaches you.
Large-Volume Printing
For very large print runs, printing may be completed by a trusted partner. Those items are shipped to us, where we inspect them and complete any final pressing, assembly, or finishing before shipping.
Complex Embroidery Digitizing
Highly detailed logos or artwork may require specialized digitizing. Once digitized, all embroidery is completed in-house, and every item is inspected by us.
In both cases, the finished product still passes through our hands.
đ Why This Matters
Our approach allows us to:
- Offer a wide variety of products and styles
- Keep pricing accessible
- Focus on quality over speed
- Give every order personal attention
This isnât mass production.
Itâs thoughtful, small-batch customization.
And thatâs exactly how we like it.
